MICRO SUCTION CUP (obvsmicro) - £14.22

Micro suction cup, suited for short use to mount a bullet camera inside or out. Very strong for its size, although possibly not stable enough for a camcorder unless small and lighweight.

PROS

CONS

Price!
Sucker seems to work well in all temperatures

Not stable enough for camcorders at speed (small base footprint).
It's small size will limit the angle you can point a digital camera or camcorder inside

BALL HEAD WITH SUCTION CUP (obvsbhcup) – £21.33

Small suction cup that is lever operated producing a huge amount of grip from such a small mount.
Rated as holding a maximum of 500g by the manufacturer, we have tested this at a higher weight.
Best suited to sticking bullet cameras onto parts where larger mounts are unable to fix.

PROS

CONS

Cost
Good suction power

Only one joint, so only so many adjustment possibilities.
Won't grip as well to curved surfaces (shallow angles are ok)
Takes a knack at first when using the clamping lever (easy after a few attempts to create a good vacuum).

SUCTION POD (obvssucpod)- £ 31.02 -

95mm diameter suction cup, with ball and socket head. Manufacturer rated to 3kg, and we have tested this suction mount in excess of this (in ideal conditions).

PROS

CONS

Cost
Strength of suction
Soft rubber base works well in colder weather
Small size of cup means you can mount it in more places

Not as suitable for large cameras (fine for bullet and small/medium camcorders)
Limited adjustability for shot

TRIPLE SUCKER MOUNT (obvsatsm) £ 35.24

    Compact Alloy triple suction mount

A strong, all metal suction mount with three suckers. Has a small size, making it ideal for positioning a bullet on small panels (bumper, lights etc)

PROS

CONS

Strong - tested to 182mph by Performance Ford magazine.
Compact in size
Multiple small suckers for security and curved surfaces

Only one joint for movement and adjustment

SINGLE SUCTION MOUNT (obvsssm809) - £ 42.65

Single suction mount, which can be mounted inside and outside cars, sometimes even on a helmet. If using on a helmet they stick better on areas of helmets not covered in vinyl stickers. Best suited to using bullet cameras, small still cameras and small camcorders

PROS

CONS

Versatile, can be used all over the place!
Plenty of adjustment
Pretty strong and stable (for bullet and small camcorders

Doesn't always have enough reach to allow a camera to be mounted on the inside on a windscreen for forward facing shots

TRIPLE SUCTION CUP MOUNT With Swivel head(obvstriple) - £51.05

Strong but compact suction mount, with good moveability, tested by the makers supporting up to 25kg of static weight, or a bullet camera up to 200mph!
The compact footprint allows you to place the mount in many different areas, whilst having a triple sucker base makes for a more stable support.

PROS

CONS

3 suckers
Strong, suitable for small camcorders and bullet cams
Cost
Various mounting positions

Limited adjustment of angle in one direction unless you remove the mount and re-stick it down.
Can't be used to mount a camcorder on the inside of a windscreen

Suction POD with Extra Ball & Socket Head (obvsspebsh) -

The excellent suction pod combined with an extra ball and socket head. This combination allows you to fine tune the angle you point the camcorder, making it even better for interior shots, when mounted on windows

PROS

CONS

Further improves on the versatility of the Suction pod.

May not allow you to mount your camcorder onto the windscreen (due to angles involved), in which case you should mount onto the side window to face forward, or consider the Pump cup with swivel and double ball tilt top head.

ALLOY TRIPLE WINDSCREEN MOUNT - £59.46

The best value way of securely mounting a small camcorder on your windscreen. Also ideal for bullet cameras and small digital camera use.

Uses the same base as our compact triple sucker alloy mount (obvsatsm), combined with a solid alloy 3" shaft and double joints.
Also gives enough adjustment to allow a bullet camera to point forward through the windscreen.
The shaft can be removed to give more stability in some situations

PROS

CONS

The extension arm with three pivot points gives plenty of adjustment
Small foot print, making it inconspicuous.
Easy to attach and remove quickly

Not as stable as the quad sucker windscreen mount.

QUAD SUCKER WINDSCREEN MOUNT (obvsquadmount) - £64.63

Possibly our best value windscreen mount, allowing the mounting of small and some medium sized camcorders on the inside of your windscreen, forward facing.
Two ball joints give you plenty of adjustment, whilst the all metal construction is strong and stable.
This mount is also suitable for a wide variety of mounting locations inside or outside

PROS

CONS

Great value
Strong and stable
Small footprint (145mm across)
Easy to attach and remove

A little heavier than some of our mounts.

STICKY POD - £65.91

The smallest Sticky Pod in the range. Designed for small camcorders inside or outside the vehicle.

Comes complete with -
a) knuckle (ball camera mount)
b) solid aluminium 3 inch extension
c) nylon web short tether
d) rubber cushion for knuckle

PROS

CONS

Strong suction power
Cost effective

Triple sucker base isn't quite as stable as the 4 sucker version.
Some camera angles not possible as only one knuckle and extension.

EXTRA STRONG BULLET CAM MOUNT - £76.25

Using the same 6 sucker base as the ultra 6 mount, only without the extension arm.
We use these mounts with our bullet cameras, when filming fast cars on track. We have come to rely on their strength and stability at speeds in excess of 155mph for short periods

PROS

CONS

Very strong and stable when used with bullet cameras.

Limited adjustment for angle and reach without the extension arm.
Length of base will prevent mounting on some very curved or angled surfaces

SUCTION POD WITH MINI TRIPOD - £76.25

The excellent suction pod combined with a mini tripod. This combination is very versatile, and can be used together or separately (see descriptions of both items elsewhere in the shop). When used together you can screw the suction mount to the centre pole of the tripod, giving you a stable 4 points of contact. The centre section of the tripod is removable, giving you an extension arm and swivel head.

PROS

CONS

Hugely versatile
Allows for a great variety of shots
Good value

When used as an extension arm, the extra leverage will reduce the safe weight the mount can support.

TRIPLE CUP WINDOW SUCTION MOUNT - £76.90

This combines the Triple cup suction mount with an extension bar and extra joint, enabling you to use this mount directly on the inside of the windscreen

PROS

CONS

Excellent mount, very flexible with loads of different shots possible.

The arm when extended will limit the weight the mount can carry, but this is so strong it won't normally matter

PUMP CUP WITH DOUBLE BALL TILT HEAD - £82.72

As the name suggests, this is essentially the same mount as our 'Pump cup with swivel and double ball tilt top head' only without the swivel joint.
150mm, strong vacuum mount with joints to allow easy camera positioning in most angles, inside and out.
The mount is held in place on a smooth, clean angle (ideally flat or very shallow angle) by a vacuum. This is created by you pumping a button on the base quickly until you see the red line on the button disappear. At this point the cup is rated as supporting up to 2kg in weight. When the redline re-appears you need to start pumping again

PROS

CONS

When in ideal conditions it is very strong and we have tested the cup well in excess of 2 kg. 2 joints makes for good, easy adjustment.
Well suited for inside or outside a car, with a small camcorder or bullet cam.

In cold weather you should ideally gently warm the rubber base to help it stick.
Needs a smooth, shallow radius or flat surface to stick - fine on many windscreens and panels of hatchbacks and most sports cars, but anything with a lot of curves you are best to look at other products in our range.
Does seem to leave a circular rubber mark on surfaces, this can be washed off.
Not quite as versatile as some other mounts

ORIGINAL STICKY POD - £85.31

The original Sticky Pod that started the range.
Suitable for medium/large consumer camcorders

UNIVERSAL SUCTION MOUNT - £87.89

Suction camera mount for small and small/medium camcorders (max 1.7 kg, 25 x 14 x 7 cm), will accept bullet cameras too.
Due to the design, it helps provide stable footage, particularly suitable for sticking to the inside of the windscreen.
It comes complete with a safety tether to help prevent expensive accidents in the unlikely event the suction cup loses grip

PROS

CONS

Lightweight but stable, alloy and plastic construction.
Reliable hold when used inside on the windscreen

Not the cheapest of mounts
Limited adjustment, compared to other mounts

LORRY OR CAMPER VAN MOUNT - £87.89

Mount comprising of three suckers, on a plastic support plate, with an extendable leg for dashboard support.
On top of this plate is a small tripod head with arm, making angle adjustment really easy, without having to touch the camera.

PROS

CONS

The tripod head and arm is unique to this mount, ideal for panning on the move, for example when driving through a scenic location

Needs a vertical or steeply angled screen or window to mount onto, hence being ideal for a truck, van, camper van or caravan

PUMP CUP WITH SWIVEL AND BALL TILT TOP HEAD - £90.48

150mm vacuum pump cup, with swivel and double ball tilt top. A bit of a mouthful, but basically a very strong vacuum mount with multiple joints to allow easy camera positioning in almost any angle, inside and out.

3 joints makes for very easy adjustment.
Well suited for inside or outside a car, with a small camcorder or bullet cam

In cold weather you should ideally gently warm the rubber base to help it stick.
Needs a smooth, shallow radius or flat surface to stick - fine on many windscreens and panels of hatchbacks and most sports cars, but anything with a lot of curves you are best to look at other products in our range.
Does seem to leave a circular rubber mark on surfaces, this can be washed off

SUCTION MOUNT FOR LARGER CAMCORDERS - £94.35

A mount combining the strength of suction in the Sticky Pod original base plate, with the stability and support of the Super 3D tripod head with 1/4" attachment.
Will hold camcorders up to 5kg in weight.
Comes complete with small adaptor that converts the 1/4" thread of the sticky pod base to the 3/8" thread of the tripod head and two, long safety tethers.

PROS

CONS

Very strong
Stable platform for larger camcorders

The tripod head does not raise above the base very high, so some angles may not be possible with a longer camcorder

ULTRA 6 SUCKER MOUNT - £96.94

A total of 6 suckers provides a great deal of grip, making this suitable for high speeds with a small camcorder or bullet camera (we have exceeded 165mph at Bruntingthorpe).
The removable extension arm allows for a good amount of adjustment, including on the inside of windscreens.

PROS

CONS

Very strong
Lot's of angles of shot available
You can adjust the positioning of the feet a little, to give more or less space between the two clusters of sucker.
Large footprint gives a lot of stability

b) Two solid aluminium 3 inch extensions
c) Nylon web long tether
d) Two rubber cushions for knuckle
e) Extra stud for suction cup
f) Spare suction cup

PROS

CONS

Strong and stable

The further you extend from the bodywork you must be aware of the extra leverage this places on the mount and the bodywork, take care!

DIY PRO MOUNT KIT - £264.96

A kit that allows you to use your existing tripod. This saves you money and gives you a strong base to work with, ideal for long exposure shots.

The kit comprises -

3 x My Sticky Pod mounts (triple sucker bases, 3 x 3" extensions, 3 x ball and socket joints)
3 x Super-clamps which attach to your tripod legs.
For extra strength we can upgrade the triple sucker bases for 4 x sucker bases. We can also add extra joints and extensions for more versatility

PROS

CONS

Great value, uses your quality tripod
Small amount of kit to transport
Great angles possible

Relies on the strength and stability of your tripod, make sure it's a good, rigid design.
The super-clamps are powerful and have the potential for crushing thin walled carbon tripod legs, so take care not to over tighten.
Can take time to set up some angles
At maximum extension the tripod could put a lot of leverage on the base plates, try to triangulate carefully to distribute the load evenly. This will also reduce the pressure put on the vehicles panels.

SMALL MOUNT TETHER

£3.50 incl vat

For peace of mind and extra security you should really use a tether with your suction mount. If the worst should happen and the suction mount loses grip then your camera equipment won't go far.
This tether is 100cm long with a dog style clip on one end.

LARGE MOUNT TETHER

£6.50 incl vat

Same as above but for larger suction mounts and roll bar mounts. We use these for FIA approval of the clamp mounts for use in rally cars.

This one is 100cm long and 3cm wide. Comes with a heavy duty clip at one end. Keep the scrutineers happy with this camera mount tether.

These are the same straps used for keeping luggage on car roof racks

Please Note: As with all suction mounts no matter how good a product is unfortunately accidents can still happen and it is possible for a suction mount to lose grip due to any number of reasons.
Make sure you suck to a clean and dry surface. Suction mounts work best on shiny gloss finished surfaces.
Never try to mount a large camcorder on a mount too small.

Bikecameras.com cannot take responsibility for damages caused by using any kind of camera mount.

We always recommend the use of a tether as a back-up. You can purchase tethers from this page.
